I was young and reckless and fool hardy and my whole brain just went, 'Hell yeah, I'm going to write a novel'. What began as this High Fantasy wild adventure of magic and mystery was turned down a notch because I fell in love with the main character and wanted the story to be focused on her, not the world or the adventure. I left out a lot of the magic stuff, trimmed down the adventure and made the world a bit smaller and more familiar. (If you have seen the map you would probably recognise it as very similar to Australia.) By the end of the 3 terms I had this partially finished, unnamed, and frankly quite rubbish draft of what would come to be When the Dust Settles. As I continued to work on it, I realised how little of the back story of the Raiders and Seekers I knew. I needed some way to discover that back story. One thing that had been in my mind since the beginning of this project was how like an Action/Adventure RPG this story was. And that was the solution to my problems. I would create WtDS RPG to offer everyone the chance to help me create the story of WtDS. WtDS, the novel, is still incomplete. However, I am slowly uploading it to my DeviantArt profile. To read the story and veiw some art for it, visit this gallery. That is where I will be uploading all art by me related to the novel and the novel it self. Also on deviantart is the WtDS-RPG Group. This is where members can submit their art relevant to WtDS and WtDS RPG. One question that has come up before, and probably will come up again is: Will you be using my characters in WtDS? The answer to that is no, unless you are playing a Canon Character or you want me to use your character. Another exception is characters who are relevant to important parts of a canon character's past. (eg, ex-girlfriend/boyfriend, best friends, enemies ect.) However, those characters will most likely only be mentioned, not actually feature in the story itself. Should WtDS ever be published, I will be putting a long list of members names in the back as a thank you, because I just know that your participation in WtDS RPG, will change the course of WtDS itself. That is why this is a unique experience, it is the chance to be part of the creation of the backstory of a novel, rather than just being a fan. Be part of the creative experience of WtDS. |
